The bamboo village that became a town
Basugaon’s municipal board says the name comes from its bamboo plantations and market — basu or bash meaning bamboo, and gaon village. It describes Basugaon as an industrial town near Bongaigaon in the western part of lower Assam, about 180 km from Guwahati. A town committee formed in 1973 became a municipal board in 2018; about 13,850 people lived there in 2011.
Bamboo and small industry are trades with buyers outside the town — furniture makers, builders, wholesalers. A website that lists what you make or supply, with photos and a quotation form, puts you in front of people who would never otherwise hear of a Basugaon business.

I’m based in Hyderabad and work remotely. There’s no office to visit — every project is handled directly by me, over WhatsApp, email and calls, with designs shared online for review.
